Feng Shui is about balancing energies of any given space to assure health and good fortune for individuals living there. Feng means wind and Shui means water. Feng Shui was developed over 3,000 years ago in China. In Chinese culture, wind and water are associated with good health and good fortune. Bad Feng Shui means misfortune and bad luck.
Feng Shui principles can be used when you are listing a home for sale.
Here are some concepts that you can keep in mind and apply.
* Pay attention to the front door of a home. It is considered as the "mouth of chi" (chi is the "life force" of all things) and one of the most powerful aspects of the entire property. Blessings, opportunities, good fortune enter through the front door and it is also the first impression buyers have of how well the sellers have taken care of the rest of the property. The area around the front door should be clean and clutter free, the lighting must be straight and properly hung.
* The master bedroom is a place of power, honour and protection. Painting the room in soft tones of blue, green and lavender can promote relaxation, serenity and romance.
* The dining room represents the energy and power of family togetherness. Ensure the dining table is clear and uncluttered during showings. An attractive tablecloth can be used to enhance the look of the table while also softening the sharp corners.
* The windows are considered to be the eyes of the home. Professionally cleaning the windows will make the home sparkle and shine and ensure the view will be optimally displayed.
Take a look at the pictures to see how some of these Feng Shui principles are applied to homes.
