What is an exclusive listing?

An exclusive listing is when a property is marketed by a real estate salesperson without being posted on MLS (Multiple Listings Service). Prospective buyers will be directed through the salesperson or their brokerage.

The sale of the property may have less visibility in comparison to other listings marketed on MLS but sellers will have more control over who sees their property.

Why do some sellers prefer exclusive listings?

Exclusive listings tend to be popular among sellers who prefer to have an added level of privacy during the selling process. Also in some cases, commissions in relation to an exclusive listing can be lower.
