The New Hot Spots Where Americans Are Moving To Right Now

Summer is the prime time of year when American pull up roots and find new places to plant them again.

This moving season is shaping up as one of the busiest in memory. Job markets are opening wide as the economy continues to improve and financial prospects remain hopeful, and people are on the move.

You may wonder where people are moving to and which hot spots are drawing planes, trains and vehicles full of new residents. Three data sets were looked at for insight into people's past, present and future moves.

These three data sets include information from Census Bureau migration data collected from 2009 to 2013 which tracked people's moves in and out of metropolitan area, the number of cross-metro moving requests on moving.com and cross-metro search traffic on realtor.com.

The second image attached to this post displays the most common long-distance migration paths based on the volume of people moving.

The third image shows a list of the cities that people are moving to (the top 10) as well as the median price of a home and the unemployment rate.

6. Las Vegas, Nevada

These metropolitans cities have affordable housing and strong job markets.

Florida is the top state for new moves with three central cities making the cut mostly due to strong job creation. Housing prices haven't fully recovered from the market crash yet, therefore there are many deals for buyers. Also, the state does not have income tax.

The final image (fourth) displays the list of cities that are losing numerous residents. Many of these cities are America's largest cities.
