The limestone mansion located on Lake Shore Drive is Chicago's most expensive listing with a price tag of $13 million. Originally, it was listed for $17 million last year but now the price has been reduced by $4 million.
The property was built in 1916 and William M.Kendall was the architect. The mansion has been used as the headquarters of the International College of Surgeons for 65 years. During the year 1989, the mansion was registered as a historic property.
Extensive renovations are needed to get the property back in shape. The 12,000 square foot home has only one full bathroom and a small kitchen. The roof also needs to be repaired.
Marble staircases, marble archways, nine fireplaces, intricate mouldings, stained-glass windows, herringbone-patterned hardwood flooring can be found behind the the four-storey home's 10 foot tall, wrought-iron doors.
Photographs of the historic home are attached to this post.
